Great run this morning at ECP for World Harmony Run Singapore 2009

With the Upper Peirce Route cut off (decision to ban runners by the elite who may not know the benefit of running) , have to do the Rifle Range stretch.

Tracked 16km base on Nokia N95 GPS.

Why spend so much on part connectors that connect nowhere and close this beautiful route. That area may belong to VVRP (Very very rich people) but that does means we cannot just run at the edge of it. Runners risk are lightning and falls so what is just a golf ball.

background map to the route taken.

Weather was good but did not do better than last year timing, due to cramp at 32Km mark onwards. Good ample water point along the way, but dislike the East Coast stretch so flat and monotonous, not much cheering crowd this year

First real run for me at the Changi Exhibition Center. Consist of trial, park connectors, road and sand.

Very well organize run with adequate water point and good cold 100plus at end point.

Trace whole route with GPS enable N95 handphone it register 15.21Km, quite accurate consider that I was 150 meters away from start mat when I turn on the gps.

Look at the Sun at 7.30am, would be better to start earlier.

The End Point of Singapore Bay Run 21km

Our Heart is one of the most important organ in our body.
More so if you want it to do the job properly.
It beats 100,000 times a day.
Jogging and running strengthens the heart.

1. Yellow route trace by Nokia N95 with GPS enabled (21km)
2. Start from Toilet at Entrance of MR.
3. Head North towards the MR Nature Trail
4. Exit left at the Island country Club road
5. Proceed along Island Country Club road.
6. After the second up slope turn left into the Dam separating Upper and Lower Pierce Reservoir
7. Run along the road leading into the Dam.
8. Exit right at Old Upper Thomson road
9. Continue to Upper Thomson road
10. Turn Right at Island Country Club Road
11. We are back at point 5.
12. Turn left after point 5 into Terentang Trail
13. At Ranger Station Turn into Sime Trial
14. At end of Sime Trial turn left and arrive at Jelutong Tower
15. Enter the Golf Link
16. Exit Golf Link on the left and enter Lornie Trial.
17. End at the Jetty which is before the Zig Zag Bridge.

First time participate in Mt Faber VGO 10km run under veteran category.

Distance : 10km
From Morse Road it is all up hill.
Did it in 1hr 1min

Completed the Saucony Passion last sunday, did the 15km open in 1hr 35mins.
The official result is out : 10km turn - 0:30:20 - 15km turn - 1:18:53 and nett time 1:35:04


Distance seems longer than the stated 15km, should have turn on my Nokia GPS system to measure. Miss the SGRunners photo session as have to leave early with friends.
Will be doing the VGO Mt Faber run this coming Sunday will catch up with SGRunners then.

Loaded Sports Tracker onto my N95 8GB phone and tested it on my daily jog.

Start by selecting a type of activity on the menu (running, walking etc).
Then lock on to the GPS and check for good Satellite strength.
Press start and the software will track you time distance altitude, and speed.

If you switch onto the Nokia Map which is built in the handphone your position will be shown real time on the MAP. You can't get lost with this system as long as there is GPS signal.

The software will go into pause mode if you stop at any point in the run.

Charts are also plotted on speed and time and speed and altitude.
All info can be exported into cvs format or the route exported to Google earth.

If you save it as *.gpx file format then you can download to this Nokia site and store it.
